A Proven Job Creator and A Leader for Southeastern Pennsylvania

A successful small business owner and job creator, Tom McGarrigle was first elected to the 26th State Senate in 2014. Prior to serving in the Senate,  McGarrigle served as Chairman of Delaware County Council.

A Southeastern Pennsylvania resident of more than 40 years, Tom started his small business at the age of 21 in Sharon Hill, Delaware County. Like all small business owners, Tom made mistakes along the way – and learned from them. Through hard work and a strong business sense, Tom was able to expand his business and relocate to a larger facility in Collingdale after just three years. Now located in Springfield Township, Tom's business supports jobs and sponsors a range of community activities and events.

As a small business owner, Tom knows firsthand how to make a payroll, balance a budget, and make tough decisions. First elected to County Council in 2007, Tom has a proven record of fiscal responsibility and good governance.

Tom has a long record of public service and a history of working to improve the quality of life for Delaware County residents. In 2003, he was elected Springfield Township Commissioner representing the 5th Ward.

Tom is a dedicated member of the Southeastern Pennsylvania community and has donated his time to a number of community and youth organizations. He was actively involved in Youth and Lions Clubs, as well as several business associations and chambers of commerce.

Tom is also a founding member of the Run for Heroes, which organizes an annual 5K Run in that raises $25,000 each year for the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund. Those funds provide needed support and educational assistance for the children of fallen police officers, firefighters, and EMS personnel.

In his four years in the Pennsylvania Senate Tom has worked diligently on many initiatives to support the 26th State Senatorial District, including strengthening the Commonwealth’s Protection from Abuse rules and helping to enact a 2017 law to establish quality standards for addiction recovery houses. In the Senate, Tom serves on the Community, Economic and Recreational Development, Rules and Executive Nominations, Banking and Insurance, Local Government Committees and Chairs the Urban Affairs and Housing Committee.

Tom resides in Springfield Township with wife of more than 30 years, Michele. Together they have three sons, Thomas Jr., Patrick, and Daniel.
